DAWEI
1 day fisherman tour
The fisherman village. The second thing “to must do” in Southern Myanmar are fisher man villages. There are few in the area some smaller and some bigger but visiting one will give you real southern Myanmar experience, which thrives on fishing. Some fisherman villages are not only the home for the sea people but are organized in something like a production house. There are buildings with nets, ice, assigned for sorting, cutting , packing and storing fishes.
We will pick you up around 9.00 am. The best time to observe the fisherman activities is the morning. The firs village that we will visit is named San Haln Fishing village and it takes about 1 hour drive to get there. On the way we will pass some villages, farms and monasteries and around 10.00 am we will reach there. Most fishing boats arrive in the morning but doesn’t mean that the village sleeps. The main streets serves not only as a residential area but the village is organized in the production house. With shops in in the beginning full of little children and then building serving as a storage facilities for petrol, nets, cages, ice. In the middle the are few fish processing production houses where the fishes are sorted, the big are cut, than packed in the containers and ice. It very easy to lost in time and spend there about 2 hours. Around 12.00 o’clock we will make another 1 hour trip to Maungmagan beach which we will reach about 13.00 at take a lunch break I one of the local shops. In the end of the beach there is another much smaller fisher man village. We will take a short walk. About 15.00 pm We will drive you around the other places near the beach, perhaps we stop int the local school and about 16.00 pm we will be back in Dawei.
